Trang Nguyen

My name is Trang (pronounced "Chang") and I am a passionate foodie.

I was born and grew up in Germany. Switzerland became my home seven years ago. I really enjoy living in Switzerland as I love being surrounded by beautiful lakes and amazing mountains. Being raised by my Vietnamese parents I grew up with the Vietnamese kitchen, to be more precise with the Hanoi kitchen as my parents are coming from the Northern part of Vietnam. When I was little I used to spend my summer holidays in Vietnam, visiting my grandparents. I loved spending time with my granny who would go to the farmer's market in her neighbourhood at least once per day as she was always preparing lunch and dinner for all three generations (my grandparents, my uncle and his wife as well as their children are all living under the same roof). She taught me a lot about the Vietnamese kitchen, that is known around the world for being healthy, light, and (of course) extremely delicious.

The highly customisable nature of most Vietnamese dishes allows each individual to create its own personal taste experience. Therefore all my recipes can be customised and are also suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

What‘s so special about my Vietnamese cooking events?

Simply get connected during and after my cooking events. I will teach you a very basic and simple way of cooking traditional Vietnamese dishes, that you can easily replicate and enjoy with your family and friends on a daily basis.

Since I grew up within two cultures I have learned the practical way of thinking like a German and discovered the joy of eating like a Vietnamese. In Vietnam food is more than survival. With food we make friends, court lovers, and count our blessings. We simply get connected with food. Spending time with family and friends usually involves cooking and eating. These times are very precious to me as I can combine all my preferences into one great event: cooking, catching up with my beloved ones and a lot of eating. Getting back to the practical part of me: Although I love cooking, it should be easy and quick, so that I still have plenty of time to pursue other joys in life.

The Vietnamese dishes are light, fragrant and fresh.
